Community standards
A trusted community requires clear standards
Crownly is built for contestants, families, directors, and professionals who take pageantry seriously. These standards explain how we expect members to behave — especially where minors, photos, payments, and private messages are involved.
These standards work together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. They are operational guidance, not legal advice. Crownly recommends qualified legal review before a major public launch.
Respect every role
Parents, guardians, minors, directors, professionals, and fellow contestants all belong here. Speak with care, especially around young contestants and first-time families.
Disagreement is normal; cruelty is not. Critique ideas and practices, not a child’s appearance, body, or worth.
Minors and guardian control
- Only adults 18+ hold Crownly accounts. Minors appear as contestant profiles managed by a guardian.
- Do not contact minors directly on or off Crownly. Messages about a minor go through the guardian’s account.
- Do not share a minor’s full name, birthdate, school, location, or contact details in public posts unless the guardian has clearly opted in.
- Guardians decide profile visibility and which events receive contestant information.
Photos and media
- Upload only photos you have the right to share. For images of minors, you must be the guardian or have explicit guardian permission.
- Do not post backstage, dressing-room, or other vulnerable moments without consent.
- Directors and photographers should use waivers and publicity releases where appropriate; families should read them before signing.
- Report images that expose minors to harassment, sexualization, or doxxing.
Messages and professional boundaries
- Keep messages relevant to pageantry, registrations, bookings, or services offered on Crownly.
- No harassment, grooming, unsolicited romantic contact, or pressure to move communication off-platform.
- Professionals and directors should respond promptly and professionally; families should communicate expectations clearly.
- Do not use Crownly messaging to send spam, MLM pitches, or unrelated solicitations.
Accurate listings and events
- Directors must describe dates, location, divisions, fees, refund rules, and schedule information honestly.
- Material changes — venue moves, date shifts, cancellation — should be communicated promptly to registered families.
- Crownly is not the event organizer. Directors are responsible for delivering the pageants they list.
- Families should read listings carefully and ask questions before registering.
Payments, refunds, and fairness
- Honor the refund and cancellation policies shown at checkout.
- Do not request payment outside Crownly to avoid fees when platform checkout is offered for the same purchase.
- Disputes about charges should start with a good-faith conversation; abusive chargebacks may lead to suspension.
- See Pricing & fees for platform fee and payout details.
Professionals and credential claims
- Describe services, pricing, and experience accurately. Do not claim certifications, titles, or affiliations you do not hold.
- Verification badges reflect Crownly’s platform review — not a license, background check, or endorsement of every service outcome.
- Fulfill confirmed bookings or communicate early when rescheduling is necessary.
- Families should perform their own due diligence before booking.
Verification and background checks
Verified director and professional badges are awarded after Crownly review of consistent, accurate listings and professional conduct on the platform.
- Verification is not automatic on signup and may be removed for conduct violations.
- Verification is not a background check and does not guarantee safety, quality, or event outcome.
- Crownly does not currently run universal background checks on all members.
How director verification works is described on our For directors page.
Posts, comments, and directories
- Celebrate others the way you hope to be celebrated.
- No hate speech, bullying, revenge posts, or content that shames minors.
- Do not post scoresheets, judge notes, or private roster details without permission.
- Directory and discovery features exist to help families find quality opportunities — not to rank children cruelly.
Reporting concerns and incidents
Use in-app reporting for content or behavior that violates these standards. Our moderation team reviews reports and may remove content, warn users, suspend accounts, or escalate serious safety issues.
For urgent safety matters — threats, exploitation, or imminent harm — contact local authorities first, then email safety.com with relevant details.
Retaliation against someone for reporting in good faith is prohibited.
Enforcement
- We may warn, restrict, remove content, revoke verification badges, suspend, or permanently ban accounts.
- Enforcement decisions consider severity, history, and platform safety. We may not disclose every action taken against another account.
- Appeals may be submitted to safety.com with your account email and a concise explanation.
Sexual exploitation and grooming
- Zero tolerance for sexualizing minors, grooming, or soliciting inappropriate contact.
- Do not request private photos, off-platform communication with minors, or secret relationships.
- Report immediately — we escalate serious safety issues and cooperate with authorities when required.
Harassment and bullying
- No targeted harassment, pile-ons, or cruelty toward contestants — especially minors.
- Constructive feedback is welcome; public shaming is not.
Hate and discrimination
- No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Celebrate diversity in pageantry without demeaning others.
Threats and violence
- No threats of violence, encouragement of harm, or intimidation.
- Report threats to local authorities when imminent.
Fraud and deceptive conduct
- No scams, fake listings, impersonation, or misrepresentation of fees and services.
- Do not manipulate reviews or create fake accounts.
Reviews
- Reviews must reflect genuine experiences.
- No review manipulation, retaliation reviews, or coordinated false ratings.
Spam
- No unsolicited bulk messages, MLM pitches, or repetitive promotional posts.
- Keep directory and feed content relevant to pageantry.
Intellectual property
- Respect copyrights and trademarks — upload only content you have rights to use.
- See our Copyright page for DMCA reporting.
